It is in the setting sun, illuminating the yellow ochre of the limestone of its stones, that the discreet beauty of the site is fully revealed to the walker. The well-restored houses are clustered around the church, a masterpiece of Burgundian Romanesque art from the 12th century.e century.

From the church built in 1860, on the site of the former seigniorial chapel, one reaches the wash house and the fountain by a pretty alleyway, which hides an underground network that speleologists regularly explore but which still retains its mysteries because the progression is difficult.

Bonnay-Saint-Ythaire
Tradition has it that the name "Bonnay" comes from "Bonne Aygue" (good water) because of the abundant and never-drying spring around which the village was built. Admire the castle (private) and the chapel in the hamlet of Besanceuil.
Don't miss Saint-Hippolyte where the monks of Cluny developed a deanery to administer the agricultural domain of which the church is the centre.

La Vineuse-sur-Frégande
This commune includes the former villages of La Vineuse, Massy, Vitry-les-Cluny and Donzy-le-National. From the church square you can admire the superb panorama of the Charolais mountains.
Crossed by the Clapier stream, the hamlet of Massy has a Romanesque church built by the monks of Cluny and in the hamlet of Zublé you will find a 2.45m high menhir.

Discover the ruins of the castle of Lourdon. Invested as early as the XIIIe The castle was built in the 16th century by the abbots of Cluny, and was enriched over the centuries by other buildings, including a unique palm court, which can still be seen today.
