MAZILLE
About
Isolated in the valley, Saint-Blaise church was founded by Cluny on a Gallo-Roman site in the 11th century.
Above, the buildings of the Carmel de la Paix were designed by architect J.L Sert, a disciple of Le Corbusier. The rusticity of the rough concrete and the sober lines of the buildings set into the hillside blend in perfectly with the tranquillity of the surroundings. The complex was built in 1971 when the community founded in Chalon-sur-Saône in 1610 was transferred. You can attend services and share in the life, work and prayers of the community.
The village of Mazille, once fortified, features beautiful rural houses and the former castle of the monks of Cluny, whose vaulted chapel overlooks the Cluny valley. It is now a farm.
